El
Toro Zoysiagrass, developed by the University of
California,
is a medium bladed variety that is similar in appearance to Meyer
Zoysia. El Toro Zoysiagrass recovers quickly and has shade tolerant
characteristics. El Toro Zoysiagrass has become a popular golf course
grass because it does well on shady tee complexes.
Zoysiagrasses are normally vegetatively planted (sod or plugs).
Advantages of Zoysiagrasses are good winter hardiness, shade
tolerance, extremely good wear resistance, and a dark green color.
Zoysiagrasses generally can tolerate heavier fertilizer rates
resulting in a dark green color.
